Helios Hospitals Cluster Leipzig deliver outstanding medical results
Which hospital offers the best treatment for me or my relatives? Reliable and transparent information about the quality of medical services is crucial to answering this question.
Outcome quality has been a core standard at Helios Hospitals for over 25 years and follows a three-step approach: measure comprehensively and consistently, publish results, and continuously improve. The goal: for every medical target, Helios aims to outperform the national average.
What about the Leipzig cluster?
According to the quality requirements and medical performance indicators of the Gemeinsamer Bundesausschuss, the three clinics in the Helios Hospitals Cluster Leipzig achieved 92% of all quality targets in the 2025 report, exceeding the national average.
"The high rate of meeting medical standards reflects excellent and consistent quality of care across all specialties and confirms the effectiveness of cross-clinic collaboration", says Matthias Hirsekorn, Managing Director of Heart Center Leipzig.
Heart Center Leipzig also demonstrated outstanding performance indicators in cardiac surgery, treatment of heart failure, and acute care for myocardial infarction. As a specialized center for cardiovascular diseases, it operates, among other things, its own interdisciplinary department for heart failure, treating patients at every stage of the disease — from medication in early stages to implantation of cardiac support systems or heart transplantation in advanced stages.
With its 24/7 Chest Pain Unit, the clinic also ensures continuous care for patients with acute conditions such as suspected heart attacks.
About the Leipzig cluster
Through its cluster approach, Helios improves medical quality by pooling expertise and strengthening network collaboration for the benefit of patients. The Leipzig cluster includes:
-
Helios Hospita Leisnig
Matthias Hirsekorn adds:
"Helios continues its strategy of specialization in clusters and transparent publication of quality data. The shared quality figures in Leipzig and the positive cross-clinic results between Leipzig and Leisnig show that pooling expertise and optimizing clinic structures directly benefit patient care"
Helios quality results have been around 90% for years. In 2025, they reached a new high of nearly 92%.
Looking ahead, Helios aims to further develop quality management by:
-
moving from retrospective measurement to real-time use of clinical data
-
detecting risks earlier
-
increasing digital support in care processes
Outcome quality remains the key benchmark and will increasingly be supported by digital tools.
