After studying medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and completing his specialist training in Mainz, Karlsruhe and Bad Nauheim, he took on management positions at various renowned clinics, including the Ruhrlandklinik Essen and the University Hospital Zurich. Since 2021, he has headed the Clinic for Thoracic Surgery at the Evangelische Lungenklinik Berlin-Buch.
