Bad Saarow: Opening of a new Interdisciplinary Clinic for Nephrology and Infectious Diseases
With the opening of the new Interdisciplinary Clinic for Nephrology and Infectious Diseases at Helios Hospital Bad Saarow, Mahmoud Ali, MHBA, M.Sc., has been appointed Chief Physician of the new department. A specialist in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Infectious Diseases, he brings many years of national and international experience, as well as extensive expertise in establishing and developing nephrology services. Together with his team, he strengthens hospital in Bad Saarow medical expertise and supports the continued expansion of its healthcare services.
Mahmoud Ali studied Human Medicine at Cairo University, where he also earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.). He completed his specialist training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Cairo University Hospital. He subsequently undertook several clinical observerships at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin before continuing his medical career in Germany.
Since 2020, Mahmoud Ali has held senior leadership positions in both outpatient and inpatient care in the North-Eastern Brandenburg region, gaining extensive experience in regional healthcare delivery. From 2022 to 2026, he served as Senior Consultant and Deputy Head of Department at Klinikum Frankfurt (Oder), where he was responsible for the organisational and clinical development of the nephrology department. In addition to his board certification, he holds the additional qualification in Infectious Diseases, is certified as a Hypertension Specialist by the German Hypertension League (DHL), is an Antibiotic Stewardship (ABS) expert, and completed a Master of Health Business Administration (MHBA) at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg.
According to Mahmoud Ali, Nephrology has always fascinated him because it combines long-term patient care with acute medicine, intensive care, and close interdisciplinary collaboration. He chose to join Helios Hospital Bad Saarow because it offers the opportunity to further develop modern nephrology and infectious diseases services together with an experienced team while strengthening healthcare provision throughout the region. He is particularly looking forward to further developing the new clinic together with his team and intensifying collaboration with outpatient nephrology centres and regional hospitals:
