The Town of Krefeld is situated on the left side of lower Rheine, and it was designated as „Silk and Velvet Town" for its silk cloth manufactures in 18th and 19th centuries. This medieval town, and the neighbouring Hunting Castle and the Landscape Museum invite you for visit. Beyond the town borders there is Elfrather See Recreational Park, which is widely known. The green zone of some 138 hectares in area invites you for both rest and various sports entertainment.

Discovering Düsseldorf

In not far distance from Krefeld, Düsseldorf City is situated, the metropolis of Nord Rheine-Westphalia Land. Düsseldorf image is formed with seven bridges. Three bridges are thrown across Rheine River in the central part of the City: Oberkasseler Bridge, Rheinknie Bridge, and Theodor-Heuss Bridge. The Old Town of Düsseldorf is known by its side-streets, squares, and Rheine Promenade Quay with a great number of cafés and beer gardens. Over 250 taverns, restaurants, and bars on streets of Old Town follows one another. However, Old Town is more than only entertainment quarter: either modern art, or international painting, or ceramics, or cinema, or boating along Rheine, or the past history – museums in Old Town propose almost anything you like. Kunstsammlung NRW collection is a highlight for art lovers. The most important works from Picasso to Beuys may be admired in the permanent exhibition.


Königsallée, referred to as “Kö”, was recognised one the most beautiful boulevards in the world. It is divided with a long town ditch. The splendid boulevard is characteristic by more than 200 trees that decorate the picture of exclusive shopping mile. Sculptures, fountains, and ornamental bridges unite two sides of ‘Kö’.

Medien Haven

The Medien Haven is a successful example of modern city development, and it can attract you mainly by ingenious architecture and diverse gastronomic offers. An ideal starting point for walks around the Haven is the Rheine Tower with its breath-taking view over the City. Benrath Castle Benrath Castle is a touristic centre of attraction. To the South from Düsseldorf more than 200 years ago the Elector Karl Theodor built this amusement and hunting castle. The late baroque ensemble of castle and park is one of the most important in its category, and it shelters different museums, as the Museum of European Garden Art.
