The Chest Pain Unit at the HELIOS Hospital Siegburg - a diagnostic- and therapy unit for the treatment of patient with acute cheat pain  - has now been certified by the German Society for Cardiology (Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kardiologie (DGK)).

"We are very proud, as the certification underlines our Know-how and the efficient treatment of patients", says Dr. Peter Boeckstegers, chief physician of the Clinic for Cardiology and Angiology. The institution in Siegburg is the only one of its kind in the Rhein-Sieg region and one of only 180 in all of Germany. It is a "special unit" in which people with chest pain are treated quickly and extensively by heart-and circulation-experts."The Chest Pain Unit is open for all patients 365 days a year all around the clock and the emergency ambulance can head there directly", Dr. Jan Horstkotte, leader of the Chest Pain Unit explains. Therefore especially patients with a suspected heart attack, for whom every second counts, can be intensively treated with ultrasound, blood tests, ECG and monitoring without losing time.
