Pancreatic cancer

Cancer which has its beginning in the pancreas is called pancreatic cancer. When pancreatic cancer spreads, it generally moves through the lymphatic system. Physicians often take out lymph nodes in the vicinity of the pancreatic cancer to find out whether they hold cancer cells. Pancreatic cancer that overlaps to other organs is called metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Spina bifida

Spina bifida, or myelomeningocele, is one of several so-called ‘neural tube defects’.  The neural tube is an embryonic structure that develops into a baby’s brain, spinal cord and surrounding tissues.  Usually, the neural tube closes within the first month of a baby’s development.  However, in spina bifida the neural tube does not close completely which may then lead to defects in the spinal cord and backbone.  Spina bifida may be handled with medication, physiotherapy or surgery, depending on its severity.  There is however no cure for spina bifida and children born with this disease often maintain damage to their nerves, which may result in difficulties walking, learning difficulties or problems with bladder and/or bowel control.
