Uveitis

Uveitis is an irritation of the uvea, the vascular layer of the eye located between the retina and the sclera. The uvea extends toward the front of the eye. The parts of the uvea are the iris, choroid layer and the ciliary body. The most widespread form of uveitis is an inflammation of the iris called iritis. The exact cause for uveitis is seldom known. Infections, injuries and or autoimmune diseases might be related to the development. A uveitis can be severe. It can result in a permanent loss of vision.
