Endometrial cancer

Endometrial cancer is a common type of cancer affecting the lining of the uterus in women.  Endometrial cancer is often detected early, making it comparably treatable.  Vaginal bleeding between menstrual cycles or after menopause can be a sign of endometrial cancer.  If detected early, the uterus is often removed which can eliminate the endometrial cancer completely.

Enterocele

An enterocele often occurs after childbirth or in women of advanced age.  Muscles and ligaments of the pelvic floor that support internal organs can become weakened which then allows the supported organs to sag.  An enterocele is when the small intestine, which is supported by the pelvic floor, sags into the lower pelvic cavity and into the vagina.  Symptoms of an enterocele may be relieved by pelvic floor exercises which strengthen the appropriate muscles.  In more severe cases of enterocele, surgical therapy may be required.

Fecal incontinence

Fecal incontinence refers to the inability of controlling one’s bowel movements.  This loss of control may be partial or complete. Causes of fecal incontinence may commonly include constipation, diarrhea or damage/injury to nerves or muscles. Damage to nerves and muscles may be incurred in women during childbirth. Fecal incontinence may also arise in people of advanced age whose sphincter muscles have become weaker. Although fecal incontinence can be embarrassing to discuss, there are many treatments available that can improve and sometimes correct this disorder.

Fibroadenoma

Fibroadenomas are noncancerous tumours that often occur as breast lumps in women in their 20s and 30s.  Fibroadenomas can be described as solid or rubbery lumps under the skin with well-defined borders.  Fibroadenomas also move easily under the skin when touched and are generally painless.  Fibroadenomas may vary in diameter from less than 1 centimeter to several centimetres.  During pregnancy and breast-feeding they may increase in size.  Fibroadenomas should be monitored for changes.  If required, fibroadenomas may be removed surgically.
