Metabolic syndrome

Metabolic syndrome refers to a group of conditions that arise together and increase the risk of stroke, diabetes and heart disease. These conditions include being overweight, high cholesterol, elevated insulin levels and increased blood pressure. Although one factor alone is not classified at metabolic syndrome, the presence of even one risk factor can contribute to disease and the risk increases with each additional condition. The best way to avoid or delay the serious diseases associated with metabolic syndrome is to make lifestyle changes aimed at reducing the risk factors.
