Melanoma

A Melanoma is a malignant tumor of melanocytes. Melanocytes produce the dark pigment, melanin, which is responsible for the color of skin. Melanoma can occur in any part of the body that contains melanocytes. Melanomas are a dangerous form of skin tumors and cause the majority of deaths related to skin cancer. The diagnosis is more frequent in women than in men and is particularly common among people living in sunny areas.
